SKYSCRAPER IN THE HEART OF NY

SKYSCRAPER IN THE HEART OF NY

New York, USA
Large formats that are extremely easy to work with, brought to the heart of New York.

In the heart of the Big Apple, Lapitec cladding has been used for the entrance hall of a skyscraper.  This luxury building, just a stone’s throw from Times Square, where two of Manhattan’s main roads meet, is home to a number of executive and professional offices as well as the headquarters of a number of famous fashion brands.
The design, by the Fogarty Finger studio in New York, is a great example of how easy it is to work with “full-bodied” sintered stone, putting the large format of this material to great use.

A simple and sophisticated look.

Lapitec was used for the wall cladding in the reception area and for the side panels of the large desk; however, it is the cladding in the central section of the lobby, where the elevators are located, that allowed the designers to really achieve an incredibly simple and sophisticated look.
This was made possible by using full-sized Lapitec slabs, which were glued to the walls and fixed in place with a mechanical anchoring system. The result is a vertical surface completely covered in sintered stone that reaches five metres in height, offering a wonderfully even look that creates strong stylistic homogeneity.

New lines for never-seen-before workmanship.

The rounded corners of this section were done by hand, using a soft curvature radius: until now, this unprecedented and extraordinary technique was only possible with natural stone.

Sinuous lines creating a harmonious environment.

Skilled workmanship is combined with this material’s high levels of technical performance, creating a high-impact aesthetic effect, with Lapitec’s soft touch blending in perfectly with the surroundings.

Sophisticated finishes for glistening surroundings.

The Satin finish was chosen here: a naturally shiny, refined surface able to reflect the light in a soft way. The Bianco Polare colour contributes to creating a bright space using delicate, almost diaphanous, shades that integrate with the veining of the Carrara marble.
The homogeneous colour of the Lapitec slabs also creates strong aesthetic consistency, transforming the surfaces into monochrome backgrounds offering charm and simple elegance.

LAPITEC HQ

LAPITEC HQ

Treviso, Italy
The ultimate expression of Lapitec’s potential.

Sintered stone ventilated walls, interiors, walls, doors, bathrooms, tables and ceilings: the Lapitec HQ is entirely made from the material produced there.

The perfect showcase for Lapitec.

Surfaces covering a total of 2,500 m2: a unique showcase to demonstrate the enormous potential of “full-bodied” sintered stone, brought out by the stylistic and architectural choices of this design.

Colour vibrations and plays on light.

Inside the building, the chosen finishes enhance the natural light, thanks to the light colours used and the way the sunlight reflects on the different textures.
A single dominant colour with a velvety effect, giving all the interiors a compact and uniform look.

A linear yet dynamic facade.

The building’s exterior is characterised by a geometrical stretch featuring cut-outs to break up its length without, however, ruining the effect of continuity. This is thanks to the use of a lighter slab which is lit up at night, creating dynamic strips of light and reflections on the façade.
A dynamic and modern look. To further bring out the geometric look of the façade, there is a colour contrast between the grey, Satin finish of the panels positioned further back, creating a continuous façade with the glass surfaces, and the ivory, Vesuvio finish of the elements at the fore.

All the potential of Lapitec, in one place.

The Lux finish was used for all the flooring, Vesuvio for the vertical surfaces and Satin for the tables and horizontal surfaces. In fact, Lux has an intrinsic brightness and shine that reflects the outside light, creating an incredibly charming high-gloss look. The Vesuvio finish has a more structured surface that brings to mind the appearance of flamed and brushed granite, making it perfect for walls: this cladding creates an interesting vibration effect when the light hits the slabs; this creates surprising colour effects that are also very natural. Satin, on the other hand, is the finish of choice for the horizontal desktops, the reception desk and all support surfaces: in fact, the satin effect ensures the right reflection for the workstations.

VILLA A.

VILLA A.

Veneto, Italy
Renovating a historical building with a modern touch.

The MAMA architecture and engineering studio worked on this project to renovate and expand a private home dating back to the start of the 20th century, situated near the historical centre of Treviso. This project brings together the past and the future, at the same time as preserving this building’s beauty and historical features. The renovation work was completed by recovering the outer walls of the main building and extending the rear side of the property with a new wooden structure and Lapitec cladding.

Striking the right balance between the historical structure and the new annex.

With the aim of blending in with the surrounding area, the Bulgari plant combines tradition and innovation: a glass house now sits alongside the historical building, representing an extension to the original construction made from steel and glass, both positioned in front of the production facilities whose appearance perfectly reflects the high levels of technological performance.

The “full-bodied” sintered stone slabs are planar and all have the same thickness: this simplifies assembly and gives the building a uniform appearance. The slabs are durable over time as they are able to withstand any temperature and the degrading action of UV rays; this performance is thanks to Bio Care technology, which uses titanium dioxide in the production process, meaning the slabs are able to break up atmospheric dust and are therefore self-cleaning and anti-bacterial, a fundamental characteristic for outdoor applications.

Lapitec’s aesthetics and functionality for ventilated facades.

While beige-coloured marmorino was chosen for the external finishes of the historical part of the building, a wooden support cladded in Lapitec was used for the extension. All of the large sintered stone slabs are 12 mm thick and were fixed in place by the Antonello Finiture installation company using the Kerf system. The soft shades of Bianco Crema were chosen in order to recall the colour of the historical part of the building and to create an effect of continuously alternating colour, thanks to the light that reflects off the  façades at different times of the day.

Lapitec for Italy’s jewellery district.

Open Project chose Lapitec in Grigio Cemento for the details of the outdoor paving, creating an excellent blend of elegance, aesthetics and functionality. In fact, sintered stone creates a harmonious contrast with the steel and glass structure.

Elegant and functional outdoor paving.

The fact that Lapitec is extremely easy to work with allowed for details to be created that further enhance the design’s aesthetics; Lapitec’s other characteristics, such as its resistance to UV rays and corrosion, also made it the ideal choice for this outdoor application.

CA’ GIOIA VILLA

CA' GIOIA VILLA

A tribute to classicism.

The entrance to the Ca’ Gioia Villa, marked by a long glass covering, perfectly frames one of the wonderful 16th century works by Andrea Palladio, as well as the mountains where the Veneto Prealps begin.

An open dialogue.

Between these two buildings – the famous Villa Angarano and this house designed by Francesco Pascali – lies only a large park, which separates them and yet allows for continuous dialogue.

The new home has an L-shaped structure and, in fact, interprets the guiding principles of Palladian architecture in a contemporary way: the long lower building with a pitched roof is connected to the main building, which has two floors and, just like the great Renaissance master himself, creates great balance between monumental shapes and simplicity.

A meticulous rhythm.

The shapes here are pure and meticulously geometric, characterised by a very precise rapport between empty and filled spaces. Lapitec’s large-format, sintered stone slabs, measuring 1,500×3,365 mm, give rhythm to the exterior as they completely cover the villa – both its horizontal and vertical surfaces, including the roofing: the ventilated façades are in Bianco Crema with Arena, Dune and Vesuvio finishes, while the roof is in Terra Ebano with a Dune finish. The outdoor flooring, enhanced by planters and running along the entire perimeter of the building, is made from Lapitec Bianco Polare.

The perfect material for exquisite exteriors.

Resistant to UV rays, temperature fluctuations and weather conditions, sintered stone is ideal for outdoor applications, thanks also to the fact that its surface is completely non-porous.

FUTURE VILLA

FUTURE VILLA

Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Contemporary geometries.

In this private residence in Dubai, the architectural elements are symmetrically interwoven in an incessant rhythm of full and empty spaces.

The sense of movement conveyed by the envelope is repeated in the interior design, with cuts and openings that lighten its monolithic image. The private garden surrounding the entire complex also reflects the variable schematic nature of the architecture, with plays on perspective and a layout of steps of different heights..

Material plurality.

The combination of different materials on the façade, with large slabs of Lapitec interspersed with portions of wood, glass and metal, further enhances Future Villa’s fundamental concept of multiplicity, in which each element maintains its own individual design while contributing to the creation of a harmonious unit.
In this project, sintered stone is presented in two contrasting nuances. It is used on the exterior façade, covering the profile of the large balconies and framing the large windows that punctuate the external fabric. Indoors, it is applied to the wall in a cream shade to maintain stylistic consistency with the rest of the project.

Lapitec technology at the service of architecture.

Thanks to its high resistance to weathering, sudden temperature changes, chemicals and acids, and continuous exposure to UV rays, while keeping its colours unchanged when exposed to light, Lapitec is ideal for outdoor applications. Its non-porous surface is also non-absorbent, making it easy to clean. The slabs are available in XXL format, making them ideal for covering large areas and creating visually homogeneous ventilated façades.
